DAY ONE DIET ANALYSIS.
After looking at the analysis, I was shocked. I realised that my Day 1 diet was very unhealthy! Firstly, my calories intake exceeded by 300kcal. Although it is actually better than Day 1, however 46% of the calories came from fat. My total carbohydrates intake is too low at just 35%! Both my saturated fat and cholesterol consumption is two times the recommended amount. Excess calories, fats in particular, will increase my chances of heart disease in the future. I should have eaten more rice and alternatives, instead of fat food.
So how do I cut down on my fat intake?
Firstly, I must insist on eating only low fat cheese. Secondly, the lunch I ate consisted of too much fried food. The sweet and sour pork I had for dinner is one of my family's favourite, but I guess we have to eat it less frequently, as it is deep fried and the meat is not totally lean. Perhaps I should recommend that my helper use less oil when stir-frying the kai lan. She can use the natural oil that come from the beef slices.
I consumed too much sodium once again. This is bad for my blood pressure and kidneys. I think the sweet and sour sauce was the culprit. I should suggest that we reduce the amount of ready- made sauce added and adding tomtoes instead. Moreover, tomatoes have more fibre, Vitamin C and antioxidants, which contributes to healthy eating.
I chose wholemeal bread, brown rice and a muesli multigrain snack bar for the day's diet. These wholegrains are packed with more vitamins, minerals and fibre than refined grains like white rice ad white bread. It is recommended that teenagers consume 1 serving of wholegrains per day. I met the requirement!
